Identify the duct, connector, insulation facing or metal surface. Record joint design, service temperature, moisture, indoor or outdoor exposure and expected life.

Compliance Is Product-Specific
UL 181A covers closure systems for factory-made rigid air ducts and connectors, including pressure-sensitive tapes, heat-activated tapes and mastics. If a project names this or another standard, request current evidence for the exact product and intended system.
Installation Matters
Surface cleanliness, application pressure, overlap and temperature affect bond formation. Trial the tape under representative conditions before approving a production order.
